ELGE was established in 1873 as the Linköping Foundry. The company’s original specialty was cast components for the electrical distribution industry. Beginning in the 1950’s, research in heat transfer technology resulted in the development of the very successful Shell & Coil heat exchanger. This unit has become the mainstay of ELGE’s renown.
For more than 50 years ELGE has developed and built genuine district heating ‘heat exchangers’ of its own patented designs. Based on that experience, the company offers today’s most modern and reliable technology in the field of heat exchangers and packaged systems for district heatingand central heating. North American customers have used ELGE heat exchangers for over 20 years. In 2002 ELGE moved themanufacturing to North America. ELGE is devoted to remain "a step ahead"in the heat exchanger Technology and toretain its leadership as a major supplier of heat exchangers and packaged system for district and central heating applications.

Using heat exchanger Technology ELGE can supply both components and complete functional solutions for subscriber stations in district heating and central heating systems’’. This business concept has been followed for many years in our daily work and design of our heat exchangers. Products developed and manufactured for a special field of application are always better than products suited for several purposes. Therefore we never accept any compromises. The manufacturing of the ELGE heat exchangers always takes place in an open process, which makes it possible to check every operation for quality. Our staff, who have extensive experience and knowledge of heat exchanger technology, concentrate totally on district and central heating at development and manufacturing of heat exchangers and packaged systems. ELGE heat exchangers are constructed with a fiberglass insulation, stainless steel jacket and a reliable pressure vessel, which can be safely connected to the system by welding or other appropriate ways of connection. The patented shell and coil heat exchanger design allows the heat exchanger to be exposed to the strains from frequent temperature and pressure fluctuations. We know that good products are designed in harmony with the environment. Therefore our pressure vessels are round, slender and elongated, which ensures best efficiency and security. This design also provides great advantages for multiple units and floor space utilization during installation time of the heat exchange.
